Transformations of teaching of history at grammar schools in Klatovy region between 1971-1995

The last quarter of 20th century was a very dynamic period full of changes, not only in society but also in teaching. History has undergone the same turbulent development, not only as a school subject. The aim of this work is to describe the development of teaching at this type of secondary schools in Czechoslovakia on the example of two grammar schools in the Klatovy district (Sušice and Klatovy) with an emphasis on teaching history between the years 1971 and 1995. On the basis of archival materials, recollections of witnesses and contemporary professional journal discussions; theoretical concepts and the degree of their fulfillment in everyday practice will be compared. Therefore, the research will also include an analysis of school-leaving examinations in history with an emphasis on their content change in this period. In addition to archival material, the method of oral history will be used, which will bring a comparison of theory with practice in teaching at the time, with narrators becoming not only students but also teachers. The text will also include a didactic part, in which I will focus on the analysis of teaching methods and teaching aids (especially textbooks).

The history of parish of Sušice 1900 - 1950

The bachelor thesis deals with the history of The Parish of Sušice between 1900 - 1950. The Parish includes the villages of Sušice, Budětice, Dlouhá Ves, Kolinec, Mlázovy, Rabí, Dobrá Voda, Petrovice u Sušice, Hartmanice, Hůrka, Kašperské Hory, Mouřenec, Prášily, Rejštejn and Srní. The main attention is paid to activities in Sušice. It depicts a gradual different background in the periods of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, World War I, the First Republic, the Nezi occupation, the post-war renewal after 1945 with the coup in February 1948. It describes important spiritual as well as secular personalities who affected the life in the parish and in the city of Sušice. This thesis concerns with the persecution of priests after 1948. The aim is to describe the events in The Parish of Sušice in detail, the particular deans and significant clerics, the care of church sights and monuments and the change of life in the city and in the vinicity taking into account society-wide events.

Sušice, the Gate of Šumava Mountains. Development and Promotion of Tourism in the Region of Sušice in years 1918-1938

This thesis deals with the topic of development and promotion of tourism in the region of Sušice in years 1918 - 1938. It expands the field of research of the author´s bachelor thesis Activities of the Club of Czech Tourist in years 1890 - 1914. Firstly, three big building projects of the Club are observed: construction of Klostermann´s chalet in Modrava and chalet in Prášily, as well as the re-erection of Svatobor´s view tower. The following part focuses on the development of the possibilities of transport in the region: trains, regular and occasional tourist buses and cars. Marked tourist paths for walking are also considered. Later it´s examined whether the centre of the region - the town Sušice - conforms to the typical depiction of a summer resort. Main steps making the locality more attractive for tourists are explored. The changes in numbers of visitors in Sušice from the second half of 1920s are outlined. In the next part the author analyses the vacationers from the summer 1930 in social and vocational terms. The last part compares guidebooks and other promotional materials and based on them enquires, whether the presentation of town Sušice in the interwar period diverges from the end of the 19th century. The topic of nationalism is omnipresent in the whole thesis.

Centres of the Free Time Adrenaline Activities in Czechia as the Tourist Product

This thesis deals with questions of the adrenaline centres as the modern product of tourism. The main aim was to open this theme and to resume primary characteristics of the adrenaline centres. The thesis attempts to describe development of adrenaline tourism, to specify the localities, where the adrenaline centres are located and to qualify their influence on regional development. The pozitive effect of this thesis is creation of database of adrenaline centres in Czechia and their primary characteristics, also with the offer of adrenaline activities by the web agencies, that sell the vouchers on these activities. As the example of adrenaline centres was chosen the project of Offpark in Sušice, where the visitors filled in the questionnares. The aim was to find out primary information about the visitors of the adrenaline centres in relation to Offpark. These answers and the information about Offpark minister to brief estimation of the influence of Offpark on regional development on Sušice. The Museum in Sušice and Public

This work The Museum in Sušice and the public deals with the birth, the activities and the changes of the museum in Sušice since its establishing in year 1880 till the year 1945. It pursues the internal running of this institution, its spatial demands, funding and the administration and managing of the museum. Further this work concerns itself with the creating of the collections of the museum, while there is proper attention devoted to the phenomenon of the donations and the donators themselves. Not less attention is put on the output of the work of the museum, above all the publication activity of the men connected to museum, the creating of the long-lasting expositions as well as the short-termed exhibitions. At the end this work will try to situate the running of the museum in Sušice into wider context of the development of museum work in the region of the west Bohemia and to describe its more general progress tendentious. In the similar way it will try to capture the influence of the crucial phenomena and incidents that shaped the life in the political district of Sušice, in this context the main emphasis will be put on nationalism and Czech-German fights in the language frontier.

Swimming hall in Sušice: Impact of the investment on tourism at the given destination

Main goal of the thesis is to analyse this specific case of a free-time activity and its impact on tourism in Sušice. The thesis investigates the influence of building the swimming hall in relation to the tourism development in Sušice. City of Sušice does not belong to the main touristic goals in Šumava region. The author analyses even the steps of local city council according to interviews provided in local papers and other information sources, mostly provided by those changing the city in tourist friendly and attractive destination. The marketing has a great influence that can basically increase the volumes of visitors and whole image of the place. Calm and wild river; An etnography study around the Otava river

In this diploma thesis I wanted to find out how people who live in a close relationship with the river deal with the extremes like are floods and drought. I wondered if local settlers and the city administration identified the threat of flood differently from people who did not live in contact with the river, and if their relationship with the river could be useful for others. I tried to find out if and how the locals reflect climate change through their lived experiences with floods and droughts. During my six-month research, based on ethnographic methods I spent time with gardeners who have been critically affected by drought in recent years, with settlers who regularly experience floods and with representatives of the city administration. Thanks to ethnography, I was able to understand the context of the relationships I studied. I found out that living in contact with floods is not as dramatic as it may seem to an observer. Thanks to many years od experience with floods and the river have the locals developed local knowledge, that can be very useful for whole city; If the city administration can combine expert and local knowledge, solving potential problems with high water can become much more effective and proportionate to reality. People living under the threat of floods do not need to be seen...

The role of territorial development actors in brownfields revitalization in Sušice

This thesis deals with the role of actors involved in brownfield revitalization in the town of Sušice. Specifically, it concerns the revitalization of the former Solo Sušice and former maternity hospital. These old unused buildings and lands necessarily need revitalize and find new functional uses. The role of actors can have a key influence on the regeneration of both monitored areas themselves. The work discusses mainly cooperation, communication and consensus between public administration, the private sector and the public. The theoretical part is focused on institutional theories, factors of territorial development, actors of spatial development, management of city administration and use of spatial development documents. In the empirical part, brownfields in Sušice are presented and the results obtained through interviews, questionnaire and development document analysis are presented. Research has shown a very different role for actors involved in revitalization. In Sušice, the most important role is played by the association My ze Sušice. The Changes and Style of History Teaching at the High School and Secondary Grammar School in Sušice between 1953 and 1971

In connection with the social and political changes which occurred in the year 1948 when the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia took control of the political power, the views on the role of secondary education and the way in which humanities were taught changed very dynamically during the coming years. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the change of History teaching between 1953 and 1971 using the example of the Eleven-Year High School ("Jedenáctiletá střední škola") in Sušice, the Secondary School of General Education ("Střední všeobecně vzdělávací škola") in Sušice and the Secondary Grammar School ("Gymnázium") in Sušice. Using primarily the aproach of oral history to get authentic narration and recollections of former students and History teachers, this thesis shows the historical development of History teaching in Czechoslovakia in general perspective, alternatively in comparison with another high school of this type located in Klatovy region, using a comparative method. Due to the use of witness narratives, the history of everyday life at school can be incorporated into the work, to a limited extent. This thesis also describes the brief history of the high school in Sušice and the history of education at general secondary schools in Czechoslovakia.

Italian refugees in the surroundings of Sušice during the First World War

This thesis deals with the Italian refugees in the surroundings of Sušice during the First World War. The first chapter summarizes the problem of the First World War in the Czech and the Italian historiography. What follows is the introduction of the problem of the Italian refugees and the perception of this phenomenon again by the Czech and the Italian historiography. The second chapter is based on the primary sources research and its aim is to map the sojourn of the Italian refugees in the region of Sušice in 19151919.
